Excellent experience in a fast paced environment
Interning at Snack Media was a great and unique experience for me. Snack Media offers interns the ability to modify the experience around their own strengths and goals, while gaining knowledge of a fast paced work environment along the way. As an intern I was involved in writing, editing, and producing media for many websites, mainly sports related.
We had the ability to create multimedia or write an editorial about any topic that we found relevant, whether that was the technology behind football pitches or Gareth Bale’s free kick style written for FootballFanCast.com. When we weren’t producing or editing stories, we were engaging audiences on social media platforms. Snack Media is very active on Facebook, Twitter, and Google+, so a lot of time was spent learning how to be a part of the dialogue.
Another major reason I loved Snack was the brainstorming sessions I was invited along to. I got the chance to sit in on meetings about upcoming projects while offering my opinions and advice. That is something that I never got to do on other internships.
An internship at Snack Media isn’t about filing paperwork and making coffee, it’s about the chance to create a portfolio of work and be involved in a company that I believed in and was proud to be a part of by the end of the internship. The full-time employees are some of the nicest people I have ever worked with and helped me make my goals a reality when I knew what I wanted to do, and gave advice when I didn’t. Its writing intensive and social media focused. If you have other strengths, don’t let that deter you from applying, as they are always looking for innovative ways to engage viewers.
