The Football Journalist has been set up by Snack Media as we’re committed to helping budding young sports journalists progress in the industry and we wanted to provide an all-encompassing, informative and ultimately useful resource.

Snack Media’s Internship Schemes
Snack Media is committed to supporting budding young sports journalists and helping you to learn a wide range of skills, grow in confidence and build your portfolio of work. You can do all three of these through the Internship Schemes that are run by Snack Media, which include the Football FanCast, Football Transfer Tavern and Formula One schemes. All three of the schemes give you first class experience in the highly competitive sports journalism industry and provide a fantastic opportunity for all budding sports journalists.
By embarking on one of our internships schemes you will get full support, training and advice from our Chief Editor. The assistance and guidance that you receive will help you to develop as a writer, while you will also be given the the independence to follow the areas of the industry that intrigue you most. Throughout the scheme you will be you will be continually challenged, making you stronger as a writer and giving you a solid footing from which to pursue a career in football journalism.
The Snack Media Internship Schemes give you an invaluable opportunity to build your portfolio as a budding sports journalist. The quickest way to get into the industry is to start writing and the future of the industry is most definitely on the Internet! Throughout the internship you will write hundreds of articles that will be read by hundreds of thousands of people and learn on the job. The end result is an extensive portfolio of written work that will stand out on your CV and give you a powerful tool to present potential employers with.
Over the course of the three-month internships you will learn skills that will stand you in good stead and put you ahead of the rest. The best sports journalists today will be web savvy, an expert on social networks such as Facebook and Twitter; as well as bing able to turn their hand to being in front of a camera, behind the camera, and able to speak well at an interview. In this sense the Snack Media internships will put you ahead of traditional newspaper journalists and help you to become a new breed of journalists who can work the promotional trail on the world wide web through social marketing.
Each of the schemes will give you invaluable opportunities to work within the industry, and don’t just take our word for it. “The opportunities I have received, not only in getting my work published and expanding my portfolio, but learning about how the industry works has been vital” (Rob Facey). Following the completion of the scheme you may well be given the chance to run your own website within the Snack Media network or be offered paid writing opportunities by Snack Media.
